Default *** HELP! How to ignore special characters in SQL?

Is there a command that will allow SQL to ignore special characters (&#039,etc.) included in a text string? I can&#039t use a name field (in the format "lastname, firstname") in a SELECT statement, and I hate to replace the commas with something else and be continually putting them back in whenever the name field is displayed.<BR><BR>Any ideas greatly appreciated. Even better if you can also e-mail me directly.<BR><BR>Thanks, Chris
