    Default edit functions

    hi=)<BR><BR>i have this error whenever i execute any asp script that contains edit or add functions:<BR><BR>Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers error &#039 80004005&#039 <BR><BR>[Microsoft][ODBC Microsoft Access 97 Driver] Can&#039t update. Database or object is read-only. <BR><BR>/add1.asp, line 22 <BR><BR>line 22 is usually rs.update.<BR><BR>i had already set my database and asp scripts to write in the microsoft management console.<BR><BR>can anyone help me?<BR><BR>thanks:)<BR><BR>p.s: i realised that where ever i post this question, seldom pple replied, is my question too silly? i am new to asp scripts and hope all of ya don&#039t mind.<BR><BR><BR>thanks again<BR><BR>karen<BR><BR><BR><BR><BR> <BR> <BR><BR>

    I am sure that u have opened ur recorset readOnly mode, <BR><BR>if I am right try the following<BR>if u are selecting by query ..<BR><BR>rs.Open "sql satement",con,2,3,1<BR><BR>or<BR>if ur query is on full table <BR>rs.Open "table name",con,2,3,2<BR><BR>or use <BR>con.Execute "Update statement " &#039 it is faster too !!!<BR>

    firstly thanks for replying=)<BR><BR>i have try out all 3 commands that you have stated but each <BR>give different errors<BR>.<BR>i open my script with :<BR><BR>conn="DSN=Student;uid=student;pwd=magic"< BR>Set RS = Server.CreateObject("ADODB.Recordset")<BR>RS.Open "authors",Conn,adopenstatic,adlockoptimistic<BR><B R>could you please guide me again?<BR><BR>thanks again<BR><BR><BR>karen<BR><BR>
