for some reason the .recordcount never works for me.. is there another way to do this without looping thru and counting each record?
You can do a query to get the count: SQL = "SELECT count(*) from tableName"<BR><BR>If you're using Oracle, a different cursor location and type works for me. I use 3 for both I believe.
Your problem is that you have the wrong combination of provider, cursor location, and cursor type. You need to post the code for opening your connection and recordset and any changes you make in the default parameters. Also, what dbms are you using?
