I have an Access database where one field is filled up with numbers. The numbers are kind of like serial numbers, and they start with the last two digits of the current year, so all the numbers for this year start with 00. To keep Access from eating the zeroes off the beginning, I have to set the field to "text" instead of "number". I'm doing an operation where I can automatically generate new numbers. To do this, I have to grab the maximum number in the table, and add 1 to it. Is this possible since the numbers are stored in text fields?
