Default ASP Session variable is getting lost with SSL

    I am developing a website with WindowsNT,IIS4,ASp.My firstpage is a LogOn page. It consists of two text boxes with ID and password in side a form.The action of the form is a URL having HTTPS://servername/validate.asp. The validate.asp page is SSL enabled. I also want to store the UserID for furthere processing. If it is used as session variable it is getting lost due to transiton from HTTP to HTTPS. So can you pls send some pointer to get rid of this problem.

Thanks
subhendu

    nothing you can do. when you switch from http to https you&#039re essentailly moving to a different server. sessions are tracked using cookies, and cookies can only be accessed from the same server, and secure protocol is quite careful about this sort of thing. you&#039ll hvae to pass values with input fields or querystrings instead

jason

    There is another problem occurs without using SSL.The problem is described below.
I have a html form having one text box and one submit button. When i
submit the form it passes through the secured channel. The code is like
this
<form Action="https://ip address of server/result.asp" method =post>
<input type=text name=UID>
<input type=Submit value=Submit name=Submit>
</form>

I want to print the value of Text box in result.asp page. I have used the
following code.
<% Userid=Request.form("UID")
response.write(Useri d)%>

After submitting the form the result.asp page comes without the value of
"Userid". But if i press the Refresh button after the result.asp comes to
browser i am getting the value of Userid.

my server(IIS4) has a valid certificate.I have set the result.asp page as
"Secured channel required".

subhendu
