Default IIS 5.0, ASP 3.0, and SSL --> HTTPS

    Hi,

I&#039ve been given the task of making our site secure. I went a got the cert from VeriSign and installed it in IIS (Directory Security tab / Secure communications). Now, when I go to the site, it first comes up the message "The page must be viewed over a secure channel." So, I type in https before the URL and then get "The page cannot be displayed." The site was visible before I installed the certificate. I also notice that the little padlock in the status bar of the browser is not there. Am I missing something? Is there something that I need to put in my ASP pages in order for the site to work?

Thanks in advance.
It sounds like a configuration issue with SSL - Tulloch and Santry have a nice walk through in their book Administering IIS 5.0 - You don&#039t have to add anything to your pages for them to be viewed via https - you may want to look at the security tab of the MMC and varify that it is configured the way you desire. You may also want to verify that you browser is configured properly

bart

I went and got their book. I was missing the SSL port number in IIS. The walk through that VeriSign has on their site is incomplete.
Thanks
--Ed
