Default Delay on First Page Served

Our web server seems to have a small delay (2-3 seconds) on the first page it serves after being idle for a short while. After that it works just fine. I am running IIS4 on NT4. It was mentioned to me that this could be that some processes spin down after inactivity and take a bit to spin up. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to remedy this.

Thanks.

My best theoretical solution is to tell IIS that it can expect more than 100K hits/day. It gets rather more defensive of it&#039s resources when it expects an onslaught.

Alternately, you could tell the Web App Stress Tool to ping your server once every couple of minutes or so... just leave it running forever. (Shrug.)
