    Default mdb on different server

    I'm using the following to connect:

    adoCon.Open "Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;User ID=;Password=; Data Source=\\servername\subfolder\subfolder\subfolder\ \database.mdb;

    I'm receiveing the following:

    Microsoft JET Database Engine error '80004005'
    The Microsoft Jet database engine cannot open the file '\\servername\subfolder\subfolder\subfolder\\datab ase.mdb'. It is already opened exclusively by another user, or you need permission to view its data.

    I know for a fact it is not already open. I've changed rights to everyone/full just to test (no change).

    Wondering if anyone has any advice as to what I am doing wrong?

    Try opening it as a file, just to see if it works:
    Set fso = Server.CreateObject("Scripting.FileSystemObject")
    Set text = fso.OpenTextFile("\\servername\subfolder\subfolder\subfolder\\database.mdb")
    If that works, then it's possibly occurring when Jet tries to open it for read and write. If you can stand using it in read-only mode, you could change the connection to readonly before you open it.
