Default The tale of the two pages

I have a table called mainitem having fields mitemcode, mitemname
In the first page i open a database connection using adodb.connection and
a recordset with the query select mitemname from mainitem this
page also has a form that lists the result of above query in a list
box.It then calls the next page through the action= criteria. In
the second page I open new connection and recordset with the query
select mitecode from mainitem where mitemname=request.form("item")
where item is the name of the list box. But this query returns EOF.Why?
