My company is using CDONTS.Newmail objects to send email by asp. About fifteen thousands emails need to send each time. Actually, is this a good method or not?

Thanks.
no, you want to find a component which handles the main distribution for you.

http://www.aspemail.com/ is good. So is searching on google. You don't want to depend on CDO for this kinda volumes.
Using ASP? Probably not. CDONTS will handle it, sure, but I would probably write an EXE or something to actually do the sending, rather than relying on ASP.

Craig.
I will check this out... thanks.
You don't want to depend on CDO for this kinda volumes.

Whysat? 15,000 emails isn't too bad.

Craig.
so using VB? I think CDO.dll is also not good enough...
good point Craig. Didn't think of this. ASP will probably time-out before ever sending the 15.000 emails.

So putting a dedicated service might be a better plan.
I set Server.ScriptTimeout = 7200 so it could do the works.
CDONTS will be fine - all CDONTS basically does is create text files on the hard drive!

Craig.
And when the mailing list increases to 20,000? To 30,000? To 50,000?

You're being short-sighted. ASP is not the technology to do this kind of work!

Craig.
