Request.ServerVariables collection does not return the actual IP address. I tried to use GEOIP which too is based on Request.ServerVariables.

How to determine the IP address of the user if he/she falls behind PROXY?

Any useful workaround will be very much appreciated.

Thanx.

RAJ.
People who use a phone modem to connect to an ISP *NEVER* have their own IP address. The only IP address you *can* get is the IP address of their provider. Consider AOL: Millions of AOL customers who connect via modem. But only thousands of AOL IP addresses. So any AOL customer could appear on any AOL IP address.

In short, IP addresses are pretty much useless for determining who is connected to you.

Identifying an individual computer that is connected to your server? No.

Oh, you could *try* setting cookies on the user's machine, but he can easily disallow your cookies. And more and more people nowadays are doing just that.
