Default Select Statements (C#)

Is there a way to have two select statements? I want to do two different procedures on one of my forms, basically I want to check the database to see if a PIN exists (One Select statement) and I want to update the same database (another Select statement) is there a way I can do it with only one Select statement? Or does there have to be two? Any examples I might beable to follow would be a great help. Thank you for your time.

Also how would I go about populating my form off a select statment and access database. What I would like to happen is when the user logs in it brings up their form they filled out already populated bringing the data from the database into my form? Any help or examples on this would be wonderful. Thanks again.

Sorry for all the questions

James
