Default VB / Asp related Download question

Ive been experimenting with initiating a download. If you click on a link, for example, that calls a web page that initiates a binary download stream, is there anyway to prevent the save dialog box from appearing. Ive been playing around with the browser control and several other controls in vb.net (httprequest and others).

I can capture the download event, but that fires before the dialog box is prompted. Note that I said the web page is initiating the download for me, I cannot simply point the browser to the file that is being downloaded.

Any thoughts?

Jason

Default Well, unless you force the download...

...dialog to appear (see Microsoft's website: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/q260519/), it should only bring up the dialog if the MIME type is unknown and/or set up to always download and never display automatically. In a word, if you send a JPEG file with the correct MIME type, it should display in the browser and not open the save dialog.

Oliver.

if what you are asking is 'is there a way to download a file to the client without the client knowing?' the answer is NO!
