Default SQL Sever Date Error

    Yes, I read the FAQ's first.

My column is defined as:
dateReg Datetime Not Null Default Current_Timestamp

I'm trying to put the following date string to this field:
'10/31/2004 4:34:33 PM'

According to SQL Server Books On-line, this is a valid string. However, I keep getting this error:
The conversion of a char data type to a datetime data type resulted in an out-of-range datetime value.

What am I doing wrong or is SQL Server screwed up? I'm losing hair over this one...

Sparky
Default RE: SQL Sever Date Error

    I could be wrong, but I think in SQL Server the current timestamp is binary datatype...

Try changing the default value to be
GetDate()

Should work out for you.
