Default browsing asp pages problem

I have a LAN with a MS server 2000 running IIS acting as my webserver - FP extensions installed - Webserver running.
I've written a simple ASP page from another machine on the net which I've copied to the root web (Inetpub/wwwroot) on the server.
I can view the page from IE on the server using //localhost but if I try to view it from another machine it just starts Visual Interdev and shows me the code!
I've checked all the access permissions on the server...What am I missing here?
Thanks
Tim

you're obviously opening it through windows explorer (dumb idea) instead of via HTTP.

http://machineName/fileName.asp
