Default question about the "new" keyword

    Hi,

I'm using the Microsoft Excel 10.0 Object Library in a class I'm writing, and when I write in VS.NET, the intellisense keeps pushing me to create an instance of an Excel.Application like this:

Excel.Application xlApp = new Excel.ApplicationClass();

Yet, all the examples I see online, including on Microsoft's own site, are like this:

Excel.Application xlApp = new Excel.Application();

Can someone explain to me what the difference is here, since both compile and appear to execute fine?

Thanks
-Steve

    It looks like the Application class was converted to an assembly by VS.NET. Typically, when you run something like TlbImp.exe on a COM object, the resultant classes have "Class" appended to the name. Use the Object Browser in VS.NET to get a better visual.
