I'm confused as to when and why I should use a view over a stored proc. I basiclly understand both, but I don't really know when to use a view over a stored proc. What is the advantage of a view?

Thanks

a stored procedure returns exactly what you limit to

a view creates all possible records for any situation

table 1 has 1000 records

joins to
Table2 with 10 records

so a view would create (if every record in 1 links to every record in 2) = 10000 records then you limit it (say top 10)

a stored procedure to do the same only returns the top 10!
