Default WMI Query

    Hi,

I was wondering what the difference between WMI + ASP is. I have noticed WMI scripts are run as *.vbs. Can they be run as *.asp?

I think you cannot as it may rise serious security issues.

HTH
RAJ

    Default Of course you can

WMI is "Windows Management Interface". It's just a set of objects you can instantiate from any language (just about) to manage Windows programmatically.

The example scripts are VBS files, but it could just as easily be VB or ASP or C#...

Yes, there are security issues, but a lot of people use it in an area that's secured using Windows Authentication so that they can validate user credentials (and have the ASP running under that user's context).

Craig.
