My session on the board timed out. So when I replied to my earlier post, it gave me login screen. After relogin I overlooked the fact that its a new post and not the one I wanted to continue.

I'm sorry about this.
"database engine" stopped error was in the eventviewer. None of the site was coming up so they are working on the server. I will not be able to give more details as that server has been taken down.

Being a programmer I've no clue at all about these technical things. You have made some suggestion in my earlier post. I think it will be useful for me to know atleast basics of server, IIS and databases. However it will not be easy task to learn or know about it.

For the beginner like me what will be the best resource to learn about these things? I do understand its not as wasy as reading the book & I'll be administrator! But just to start out..

I've seen some posts where access is referred as Access97 or Access2000. How does that affect on server? Is that a compatible issue ? like Access2000 is compatible only with WINNT or WIN server 2003? and Access98 with older OS?
first up there is no IIS event viewer, but that's just details.

If you want to learn more aout IIS and administration, see Chris Crowe's excellent site, www.iisfaq.com

Access is not OS dependent. it's just a file. as long as the MDAC is up to date, you can use any version of Access on any Windows OS
How can we know latest version of MDAC is installed on the server or not?

Thanks a bunch Atrax. On this board I've learned a lot about asp programming. I'll start out learning about IIS and administration. I greatly appreciate you Gurus help. It takes so much effort and time to reply to these questions on your part.
