Default LDB file locking database

Every once in a while, we get the error message saying the database cant be updated, or there are users connected.
It always turns out there is a .ldb file that is locking the record on the server.
What causes this and how do we go about preventing it in the future?
TIA

The .ldb file is created anytime the Access Database is in use; there is no way to stop it.
You can reduce the amount of time it exists by making sure to explicitly close you data connections. You should also consider using some other data source, for all of Acccess simplicity, it really can&#039t handle much work.
Keep in mind that ACCESS is not the ideal databse for use in web applications. If you plan on having more than 2 or 3 simultaneous connections to ACCESS via the web, you will probably have problems. Convert your database to SQL Server or Oracle or some other enterprise type database.

Corruption of the locking file (*.ldb) is an occassional problem with MS ACCESS. It can be corrected by rebooting the web server. I am not quite sure how it can be prevented...perhaps by limiting the number of simulateneous logged on users.

Additional comments welcomed.....
