I am working on a website that will store a large amount of information provided by users. The diverse nature of information users will provide means that a database with a recordset for each users information is just not appropriate. Two storage methods i've come up with are

1. Storage of the users information in a text file for each user which will essentially be a list of defined asp variables.

2. A database table (access) for each user with only two fields, one for the variable name, one for the value.

I have done some sums and concluded that option 1 would take up far more server space so 2 would be preferable. Can anyone cuncur with this or suggest any alternatives or other potential problems with these approaches?
