I'm trying to clean up some HTML pages; specifically, clear out many extraneous font tags. I'm trying to capture all text between any opening and closing font tag, and I'm having difficulty having my regex ignore an entire string. I know that [^<characters>] tells the string to ignore all characters after the carat, but I want it to ignore a whole word: for example, <font[^>]*>[^(font)]*</font> . This regex simply ignores the individual characters contained in the parens; is there any way that I can have it ignore an entire string?
