Default File Import Error Handling ?

I import Tab Delimited file of 100+ lines thru ASP into SQL server everyday. Sometimes these files have problem in one of the lines. When i encounter problem, how do i tell the user the line number and also undo(rollback) the import, so the user can fix the file and import again.

I am reading one line at a time and writing into sql using addnew method of recordset.

Default You have to use transactions... allow for a rollback. Check out the documentation or Microsoft's website for information.

Telling the user about the problems can be done in various ways. The simplest one would be to do a Response.Write, so that the user calling the ASP page can see what's happening. It depends on your set up really.

Oliver.
