Hi,

I'm using a SQL Server table to store shopping cart data.

Each row of cart data includes an ID of the cart, a reference to a product and, if it exists, a reference to product combination.

Updating and inserting into the cart involves quite alot of querying in order to determine whether a product already exists in the cart, finding the product's mode of pricing and finding the correct combination of the product.

As a result I would like to put an index on several columns.

My question, is using indexes on a table which will probably get alot of hits more of a hindrance than a help?

Cheers,

I.
