Goal is to compare values contained in a temp table with those contained within a non-temp table. All values in the temp table that do not exist in the non-temp table will be flagged.

Problem is the temp table will have hundreds of records and the non-temp table will have upwards of 500 records.

What is the best way to achieve this type of comparitive operation without taking a huge hit. My original thought is to loop through the records, but this would take forever to return, not to mention that would be poor SQL / database design.

Using SQL Server 2000. Any ideas on how to achieve this. Any and all help is much appreciated.
