I had a form with a textbox and a button. I wanted to form to be invisible by default, and only be visible if the user is logged in. So my opening form tag looked like so:

I then programmatically added a RequiredFieldValidator control to validate the textbox.

The problem I was having was that the validator's error message was displaying no matter what, and the form was allowed to submit even if there was no text in the box. Looking at another form I had created that also used validators, I noticed that the only difference was that the form tag did not have the visible="false" attribute. So I removed that attribute from the problem form and then the validator worked as expected.

Not really a question, per se, just a warning to those of you who might try something similar. If you've encountered this problem yourself or know why it works like this, I'd be interested in your responses.
