Default Access 2000 Query

I have an Access 2000 front end for my SQL 2000 database.
One of the fields is:
NullCheck: isNull(CompanyName)

this returns a lot of 0's and -1's, however if I try to add to the critera 0 or -1, all the records still come back. I have tried lots of ways to filter these out and cant figure where I'm going wrong.

Thanks
Steven Simpson

    where NullCheck = true

(Or, alternatively, you may need to do):
where isnull(companyname) = true

And, this would work:
where companyname is null
