Default File System Object

Is it possible to use the file system object to read all files in a directory, then take the filenames and store them in a database? Most examples I see show you how to read one single file, but I guess what I want is to read a folder, and then store each file in a database. Could anyone point me to an example of this, if it is possible?

Thanks
