Actually what I'm trying to do is this
Create an XML file from system A with data out of SQL 2000 (which is easy and done already). Then take that data and update/insert data into system B depending on the situation using ASP to read the XML and insert into SQL 2000.
Just put the pieces together.

Read articles on how to query a database and output it's results.

Read other articles on how to generate an XML file.

Read even more articles on how to move the XML file from one place to another.

Read articles that tell you how to open the XML file and traverse through the DOM.

Lastly, read articles on updating SQL Server databases.

What you are doing isn't very hard, at all. In fact, I've done it for various projects. You just have to have a basis on all of those pieces.
