Default Setting up SMTP on PC

I am trying to set up SMTP on my PC in Windows 2000 pro to send CDONTS and ASP.NET e-mail messages from local test pages.

The e-mails are being generated but the messages (both from CDONTS and ASP.NET) are being sent to the folder C:InetpubmailrootQueue but are not being sent to the intended recipient (messages sent to the local host domain are being placed in the folder C:InetpubmailrootDrop).

I don't know if its relevant but when I try to access the properties for message queing in the computer manager I get the following error message:

Error: The operation is not supported for a WORKGROUP installation computer.

I have also tried closing my firewall (Zone Alarm) to see if that makes any difference but it doesn't.

Any suggestions?

From the errormsg I get the impression you need to be a domain controller, or member of a domain which your computer is not.
