    what is meant by a data integrity check?

    An example of good data integrity would be if you have a table with a foreign key field and that field has a value that is within the source table. If you are performing a data integrity check, you are making sure that you don't have bad foreign keys, missing data, data that may break certain rules you have, etc. In other words, you're making sure your data is as you would expect it to be.
