Default Timeout Error in Mail script

    Hi,
I'm trying to create a Newsletter script, where emails will be sent to subscribers periodically. I've tried this by extracting the email addresses of each subscriber from database and send mail individually to each recipient until the recordset reaches EOF. But it is giving me Timeout Error from Server. Can anyone pls suggest a solution for this.I'm using Persist software ASP Email component. Thanks in advance.
Abhra

    Default ASP is inherently unsuited....

... to the creation of mass mailing scripts, or in fact any other operation that takes longer than a few short seconds. It's a client-server framework meant to provide quick interactive communication, and the timeout is a necessary part of it, due to HTTP's fundamental statelessness. You can get away with 'mass' mailing to say 50 or 100 people (depending on your server's power) but larger lists are a real problem.

at worst, you should be using WSH. at best, you should have a 'real' executable doing the mailing for you, perhaps with a web front-end via a message queue if you need it to be web-based.

personally, I usually use WSH because it's a simple quick whip-up, but I've also got a little executable I wrote here which can mail my chosen content to a list generated from an ADO data source. they're not hard to write....

j
http://rtfm.atrax.co.uk/
