Default Files - multiple users

    Hi,

In my application there was a requirement to update a file(FileA) by appending at a specified location BUT as it can be appended only at the end of file,
So i made one more copy of the same file(FileB)
in file(FileA) Searched for the string from where i wanted to append, then after writing to the file, i copied the rest of the part from the other file(FileB)....

Well then my aim is fullfilled now, the main problem I have to face is what happens when there are multiple users accessing this file.

Is there any Lock, so that if a user is accessing the file no other would access that particular file ?

Well... When you create FileA (the copy), give it a reasonable name. Something like "targetName_working.bak". That way you can use the FileSystemObject to test if that file exists. If it does, say the file's currently locked.

That's basically how MS do it with Access.

Craig.
