Default Large TextArea to SQL 7

    Hi,
I have a large textarea box that holds user comments in an ASP page and I would like to save those in my SQL7 DB. I have the type set to "Text" and the datalength defaults to 16. Unfortunately I get the error: "Application uses a value of the wrong type for the current operation." I've tried converting the variable to string, changing the datatype to varchar(8000), but it still doesn't work. If I only have a few sentences in the textarea it works with maybe three lines in a box of 6 rows x 77 cols. Anything larger than that and it blows up.

Ideas?

Thanks,
Scott
any chance that the textarea contains a single quote ( ' )?

this might cause that the query ends up strange which might have caused that error

do a replace(request("comment"),"'","''" ) before inserting/updating and see if that solves your problem
