I have a requirement for a script that will reside on an intranet server and be responsible for systematically contacting a remote web-server-database and downloading new data at a regular interval(for example, every 30 minutes the script needs to pull all the new leads from the web site.)

I need to do this within the context of a low-cost shared hosting situation, so I cannot use fancy features like DTS on the web server's SQL Server database. I also am going to be tied to a low cost database like Access on the intranet server. So I am thinking that I am going to need to use the command prompt on the local intranet server, write a batch file. Something like that. This is for an office with only a few people using the Access database that will be shared on the server.

Can anyone give me a primer on how to do this? A paragraph would be nice. And a link to a few articles would be nice too. Surely some of you have done this before. I am sure I am not the only one needing to make a cheap database on an intranet talk to a remote web server that has the limited permissions associated with shared hosting situations.

thanks in advance!
