Craig,
I want to load two recordsets so that I can loop through both recordsets and do a field by field compare of what data has changed. It is a before and after image of my data.
Without doing an open of the recordset, I can not issue an AddNew()
Ugh, this is a BAD idea... Why not store what the values were before in hidden fields or something?!

Anyway... You probably can do what you're after using a DISCONNECTED RECORDSET. Stick that into Google and see if it helps...

Craig.
Craig,
First, thanks for taking your time to responsd to me.

If I get a recordset with the current values from the form and then select a recordset of the data on the table prior to the update. I can then loop through the recordset and when I find a match in fieldname, compare the values. I am trying to produce an audit trail for the application. This is my way to determine what fields have changed. I will look into Disconnected reocrdset
Thanks
