    Default Database Headers

    Hiya all<BR><BR>Is it possible when accessing a table with asp to get the table field info, ie, data type, validation, format, display value etc....<BR><BR>Thanks in advance<BR><BR>Carl

    Default Some of it...

    ...can be gotten with<BR> ADODB.Connection.OpenSchema<BR>for that table. Other info is available via some of the ADOX (notice the X!) objects.<BR><BR>But validation, format, and display value are *only* properties of the individual database and have no bearing on the how the data is available to external users. (Data is *always* transferred to external users--e.g., SQL call users--via *internal* data format.)<BR><BR>See the ASPFAQs, category "Dates and Times" for a discussion of how this applies to date/time values in DBs and in VBS.<BR><BR>
