Does nayone how how to get a webserver to send gzip-encoded output to a browser, such that the browser transparently decompresses the data stream and displays it? This is supposed to be a feature of current browsers, and NS and IE even report "accept-encoding: gzip". I would be a great thing for pages with lots of text; 5k of text compresses to 8k on the lightest gzip compression, lowering download times and making the whole site snappier.

Ideally, there would be an ISAPI filter that would compress the output stream if the browser can take it (based on the "accept-encoding" header).
