I have two different databases. I frequently need to copy records from a table in one database to a similar table in other database. Does anyone know how to block insert the records from one database to another??
I have a database on server from where I am displaying the records. Now we use a software on a local network that generates new records everyday. So I ftp them to my webhost and then I have to add them to the table from where I display the records. I am gonna autorun this script.
The SQL will look something like this:<BR><BR> SELECT * INTO newTable IN c:path oother.mdb FROM someTable<BR><BR>That will copy all the records in "someTable" in the currently opened database (the one the connection is made to) into a newTable in the other database.<BR><BR>If you want add records into the other table:<BR><BR> INSERT INTO otherTable IN c:path oother.mdb SELECT * FROM someTable<BR><BR>simple as that.<BR><BR>
...via ASP code then! You can't autorun ASP. (You can autorun VBScript, but not VBScript in an ASP page.)<BR><BR>And the "new records" aren't going to be just a table in some external database, are they? They are going to be in some other format. <BR><BR>So until/unless you know the format of the FTP records, how can we know what you need?<BR><BR>And will your webhost allow you to autorun non-ASP scripts?<BR><BR><BR>
