I have a project in a couple weeks and my boss wants to run this program on the server and have it show up in the browser like how you can do word or excel but the client wont have this application? Is it possible to do?
You could execute it easily enough, but you wouldn't be able to output any info from it unless it returned that info through stdio, unless you write your own VB component to somehow grab the info from the program. Check out this link:
http://www.serverobjects.com/
and look for a component called "ASPExec". It's free, and depending on what program you're trying to get info into the browser from, it might actually work for you.
Depends on the app. Probably not. If it's a console app with no user input required, you can do it.

This is generally not a desired situation though. I would strongly recommend that you convince your boss to explore other possibilities -- this is really not what the web server is intended for and it can severely hamper performance and create problems.
The first response you got is a good one. I downloaded ASPExec and studied it before building my own wrapper in VB to open an .exe that was built in C++. I had to pass two variables to the executable, a SSN and a Medical Claim Number. I works very well and the client is very satisfied.

Regards,
Rob
