Default can we change port 1433?

Due to the recent attack on port 1433 which is used by MS SQL, can we change the port number to another one w/o affecting the application which requires ODBC settings? if so how? thanks.

Default What is that really going to solve?

What I mean is you should really be more concerned with properly firewalling your SQL Servers from the Internet and enforcing best security practices. ; )

Here is something to think about, many people have been reporting numerous scans on Port 3389 which is used by Microsoft Web Based Training Server.
