    Cant find any info on the following - but maybe it is a daft question???<BR><BR>Can I use the server component aspSock to write an online chat system?<BR><BR>

    What does it do?<BR><BR>If it&#039;s just a winsock component which has been modified from non-blocking to blocking for the sake of ASP, they maybe...<BR><BR>It would be ugly as sin though because the component would only stay in memory as long as the page runs, so wouldn&#039;t be able to properly handle "sent" messages, or push them out.<BR><BR>You could use it inside a VB application which clients could possibly talk to, but they would need something similar to talk via TCP/IP on their systems... So you would need to ask yourself why not just use a standard WinSock component... But no-one would let you run anything like that on their system (or server!), so...<BR><BR>Honestly, you&#039;re probably better of going for a pre-written one, or getting the Java version of ICQ :)<BR><BR>Craig.
