This must be a common scenario - how do other people handle it?

I have a web site driven by a database using asp. The administrator updates the content of the site by amending the database regularly.

I&#039ve designed it for him to update the database off-line using a client-server application. The amended database is FTP&#039d to web server at least weekly.

This however creates some problems since there is a danger an active connection will be present when the amended database is uploaded.

How do you handle this scenario? Do you allow the administrator to update the database on-line via the Internet? Or do you have some way of avoiding the conflict with uploading to a live database?
