Can my asp page that resides on the web server call a dll that resides on a different server or do the asp pages and .dll have to reside on the same machine?

In therory this should be possible, using DCOM, however it's not really easy and flexible.

Any chance you can use a webservice?
.. but, I've never seen it in practice.

I've always just put the DLL and the ASP on the same machine.
I don't think so at this time.

Where can i find some information on DCOM and how it works and how to use it?
... Wrox Press had a book on it.

Or, just plain ole Google.
Thats how I've always done it as well. Put both on the same machine
web server, you could create a page which executes your function or functions and post to that page using XMLHTTP from your web server.

A poor man's web service ; )
depening on what needs to be done, this could work really good
.. worked on, function in this way.

All of the logic occurs in ASP pages that accept XML posts and return XML documents.

It's really nice.
>> It's really nice.

So post a link, so we can be the judge of that ;-)
