you just want the user to be able to download this word doc from the server? Make it like any link and use the file path inside the anchor tag. The user will need to have Word on their pc to view it though!!
Thats not what i need to do. What i need to do is to open a word doc that is associated with an person (i'm not storing the doc in a db which is making it harder)or let the user print the word doc in the background without opening the word doc.

If i was storing the docs in a db then i could just link it to the person, but where storing them on a server to allow the user to do a search on them later.
Set oWord = Server.CreateObject("word.application"
Utilize the object model's properties and methods.

your best bet is to use the word.application object in VB 6
first and then simply convert the syntax (where applicable)
to VBScript/ASP
