Default isolating file name?

I have an HTML form where a user can use an input type="file" to send through a path of a file, e.g.

C:Inetpubwwwroot estimagesSK_FF0000.gif

what I want to do is to parse through the above on a response page and just isolate the file name, rather than that whole path. So I'd want to say, for example, assign everything after the last '/' to a variable called 'filename', which in this case would be 'SK_FF0000.gif'.

Thanks

Jim
