Randomize ... is it random?

I need to generate a random number for a contest drawing.

I've gotten the impression that Randomize isn't all that random... is that true?

This is the code I have so far that seems to be fine:
Randomize
strValue = Int((720 * Rnd) + 1)
Response.Write (strValue)

Thanks.

NO it's not...

.....Its very difficult (nigh impossible) to generate a *truly* random number.

Randomize is just an approximation to randomness

RE: NO it's not...

..so
... using it to select a number for the winner of a contest would be .... worse than/less random than cutting 720 numbers into little slips of paper and drawing from a hat?

Close enough?

I guess I'd like to know if it's *close enough* for the task at hand?
RE: Close enough?

I would say so....altho I'm sure you could get into a really interesting debate with a mathematics professor about the nature of randomness!

Just go for it, Id say....
