Default SQL develpment

I have been using ASP and Access for a while.

If I wanted to start playing around with SQL, what is the best way to get a hold of SQL. For instance, is there a developer's copy that is less expensive than the full blown deal?

Yes there is a dev copy, but that's still around $450 I believe. You could try MSDE first. This is a desktop database, but built on the SQL Server engine. It also supports stored procs etc.

It's free, and you can download it with web matrix (the free .Net dev tool) from www.asp.net
