hi,
i am trying to create a db-driven asp messageboard and want to use javaScript for posting data validation. i know i can create separate pages depending on <NOSCRIPT> tag, however, i want to allow the user to enable js and reload the page. i tried embedding a vbscript function call within the <NOSCRIPT> tag, but for some reason the variable always changed back..
sub _NoJXript()
response.write "function called"
mNoScript=true
end sub

even if the js was enabled, it reset the variable mNoScript.

then i thought i could create the object:
set userBrowser.CreateObject("MSWC.BrowserType")
if userBrowser.JavaScript=true then
mNoScript=false
else
mNoScript=true
end if

of course, this only works for IE.
I know i can use server-vbscript to validate, but is this heavy on the server? i assume this messaboard uses server script...
If anyone has any ideas, please post.
thanks,
steve
