Hello all,

I am faced with a dilemma. I need to be able to force the users browser to pop up the "save as" dialog instead of showing the file on the screen. (in this case it is a text file with a .txt extension)

I have tried setting the MIME type to different types (i.e. response.ContentType = "application/x-msdownload" as well as a few other types) in order to force the browser to download the file, but it would seem that the browser&#039s are too smart for their own good and blithely ignore the content type after taking a look at the actual data.

I have also tried using several components, notably SA-FileUP from Software Artisans with less that spectacular results... It works well for uploading to the server, but it seems a little flaky when you are trying to force a download from the server.

There must be a way, either in ASP or HTML that you can force the browser to pop up the "save as" dialog box... any suggestions?

Thanks.
